Sacred Room

This room is dedicated to the theme of the Sacred, gathering a collection of religious art pieces that testify to the profound relationship between human beings and the divine, in moments of prayer, devotion, and celebration.

The objects presented here reveal how the Catholic religion has been rooted in the daily lives of the communities in this territory, marking the rhythm of life and the most significant moments of faith.

Usually kept in churches and chapels, these pieces have been brought to the exhibition space and arranged chronologically, from the most recent to the oldest.

Among them are objects for liturgical use, such as a missal, a navette, and other works that have become significant due to their artistic character.

This diverse and representative collection showcases the work of artists of great importance in the history of Portuguese art, such as Josefa de Óbidos and Baltazar Gomes Figueira, Leopoldo de Almeida, and António Lino.

More than material objects, these works invite us to reflect on how faith, art, and culture intertwine in the construction of the spiritual and identity heritage of communities.
