Castro Columbeira
Castro da Columbeira is located on a mountain (Serra do Castelo) overlooking the settlement of Columbeira. This is an important settlement from the Copper Age, around 4,000 years ago. There are two belts of wall reinforced with towers. The central fortification, quadrangular in format, displays circular towers, semicircular bastions and a southeast facing entranceway.
Of the materials found attributed to this Early Copper Age settlement, there are ceramic vases, some decorated, flint arrowheads and blades, polished stone axes, bone utensils and the weights from a loom. The inhabitants engaged in agricultural and pastoral activities.
